In outdoor hazardous areas with explosive gas atmospheres — like refineries or oil tank farms — what kind of explosion-proof lights should you use?

It all comes down to how close you are to the tank opening. Within a 3-meter radius is Zone 1, and anything beyond that is Zone 2.

For Zone 1, lights under 60W are usually more than enough. But for lighting up large open outdoor spaces, you'll need higher-power flood lights.

It gives you up to 160 lumens per watt with a default CRI of 80. Compared to traditional HID explosion-proof lights (usually only T2), the FL8 series easily achieves T5-T6 temperature class. That means much lower surface temperature and a significantly lower risk of igniting an explosion.
